Sending telemetry events is the core integration mechanism for Cronitor's [Job](https://cronitor.io/cron-job-monitoring) and [Heartbeat](https://cronitor.io/heartbeat-monitoring) monitors.

`Jobs` use telemetry events to implement a state machine that tracks the start time, end time and exit state of a cron job/scheduled task or other long running background process.
